Unseasonal rains very likely in parts of Gujarat on May 29-30

Gandhinagar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted unseasonal rains in parts of Gujarat on May 29th and 30th.

UPDATE: Light rain, accompanied by light thunderstorms, with a maximum surface wind speed of less than 40 kmph (in gusts), is very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat state, namely Ahmedabad, Banaskantha, Patan, Mahesana, Sabar Kantha, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Morbi, Surendranagar, Botad, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Kutch, during the next 3 hours: Nowcast issued at 4 PM today

According to the IMD Bulletin, “Light thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind 30-40 kmph (in gust) accompanied with light to moderate rain is very likely at isolated places in the districts of the Gujarat region, namely Ahmedabad, Aravalli, Banaskantha, Dahod, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Mahisagar, Mehsana, Panchmahal, Patan, Sabarkantha, Vadodara, Bharuch, and Narmada. In the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, namely Surendranagar, Morbi, Botad, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Kutch,” on May 29th.

On May 30th, “Light thunderstorm with lightning and surface wind 30-40 kmph (in gust) accompanied with light to moderate rain is very likely at isolated places in the districts of the Gujarat region, namely Ahmedabad, Aravalli, Banaskantha, Dahod, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Mahisagar, Mehsana, Panchmahal, Patan, and Sabarkantha. In the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch, namely Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Kutch.”

The bulletin also states, “Strong surface winds 40-50 KMPH are very likely to prevail over the Gujarat region on May 29th and over the Saurashtra-Kutch region on May 30th.” DeshGujarat
