Japanese companies set to invest 5 Trillion Yen in India: Consul General in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Japanese companies are planning to invest as much as 5 trillion yen in India by 2027, said Dr Yasukata Fukahori, the Consul General of Japan in Mumbai. while inaugurating the Japan Cultural Centre at the Ahmedabad Management Association (AMA).
Dr Fukahori highlighted that as Gujarat is the second largest exporting state after Maharashtra and has improved port connectivity, it is well-positioned to attract manufacturing companies from Japan. Many Japanese manufacturing units are seeking to relocate from China due to operational challenges, and India is seen as the next best option for setting up their facilities, he further explained.
Gujarat currently hosts around 150 Japanese companies, with 50 of them located in Ahmedabad.
Dr Fukahori also mentioned the interest of Japanese companies in the fintech sector at GIFT-IFSC (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City International Financial Services Centre). GIFT City already houses Japanese banks operating their IFSC banking units. DeshGujarat
