Tathya Patel sent to judicial custody

Sabarmati: Tathya Patel, the main accused in SG Highway, ISKCON flyover bridge accident case has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days as the 3-day remand period was over today. Tathya was presented in the court. Meanwhile it is learnt that the speed of Jaguar car Tathya was driving was 142.5 km at the time of the accident as per the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report. Police today demanded no further remand of Tathya. Tathya will be sent to Sabarmati Central jail for judicial custody, where his father is also lodged in the same case. Tathy’s lawyer refused to seek bail for Tathya today.
Meanwhile, four friends who were in the car at the time of the accident were presented in the court of the Chief Magistrate for recording of Statements under CRPC 164 as witnesses, that were also recorded in video. 10 persons were killed by over speeding Jaguar car driven by a 19-year old Tathya Patel last week, while around 10 were also injured. The government had announced that charge sheet in this case would be filed in a week-long period. Entire probe in this case is directly supervised by the city police commissioner. The government had also announced fast-track trial and appointment of Special Public Prosecutor in this case. Tathyya’s father is also arrested and sent to Sabarmati jail in judicial custody in this case over allegations that he helped the main accused son to escape the spot of crime by issuing threats to others with abusive words.
