Sarhad Dairy dispels reports of substandard chaas consumption in Kutch

Anjar: After some media reports circulated, claiming that many people in Kutch were hospitalized after consuming the substandard Chaas of Sarhad Dairy in Anjar, the dairy has released a statement dismissing these reports.
Sarhad Dairy in the statement said, “In response to media and social media reports suggesting that many people in Kutch have been hospitalised after consuming substandard chhaas made by Sarhad Dairy, we would like to clarify that the reports are not correct.”
“Upon becoming aware of these reports, we took immediate action by collecting chhaas samples from the market for testing. Additionally, control samples from the same production batches underwent testing as well. The results show that all samples meet the requisite health and safety standards, and no issues regarding quality were identified. Nonetheless, as a precautionary measure, we have proactively initiated a recall of any unsold chhaas pouches from the market,”the statement added.
The note further said, “We want to reassure our valued customers that all dairy products, including milk, produced by Sarhad Dairy, are of high quality and adhere to the highest standards. Moreover, we would like to affirm that we have not received any grievances concerning the quality of the curd manufactured by our company.”
“Separately, we have learnt that a doctor at the Adani Hospital in Mundra reported that more than 90 patients have been treated at the hospital due to diarrhea and vomiting. The doctor said that the illness was a result of contamination in Yash Water. The doctor also advised people not to use the water bottles that were supplied yesterday and to boil the water before consuming it,” the statement further added.
It’s worth noting that Dr. Jitesh Gorasiya, district panchayat Bhuj’s epidemic control officer had informed that Anjar, Mundra, Rapar, Bhuj etc talukas in Kutch witnessed food poisoning cases. He further informed that Amul milk and chhas’s contaminated bags were utilized by the victims. He also advised not to consume such bags. He further informed that Food & Drug Administrator Mr. Saiyad was also informed about this and his teams were visiting various shops for checking. He said, if any person found consuming such contaminated milk or chhas bags, they shall even face cancellation of license and sealing of shop. Rapar training centre witnessed food poisoning in 30 cases. The common factor among all victim was found to be consumption of Amul milk and chhas bags.
