Gujarat CM reviews ongoing Kharicut canal redevelopment project

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Chief Minister held a review of Kharicut Canal redevelopment project’s progress in the State capital Gandhinagar in the presence of senior officials of Amdavad Municipal Corporation(AMC). It is learnt that the box structure making over the canal is 28 percent over. As of today, the AMC is confident to complete the project timely. The redevelopment project is taken up at an estimated cost of around Rs. 1200 crore through five phases. The Chief Minister was in this meeting informed that a 2.5 km stretch will be redeveloped by February next year, after which another four phases of the project will be initiated. A 22-km canal from Naroda Crematorium to Vinzol is currently open. It will be closed with the construction of boxes. All utility lines including GIDC mega line shall be shifted.  New drinking water and stormwater and drainage lines will be laid. There shall be a road over the canal. DeshGujarat
