PM Narendrabhai Modi asks milk producers to make Amul world’s largest dairy as soon as possible

Motera: Many brand were built but nothing like Amul, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today while addressing thousands of milk producers from across Gujarat. He hailed a target to double the processing capacity of milk in next five years. He said Amul is 8th largest dairy in the world and it should become the largest in the world as soon as possible. He said the government will support this endeavor fully and it is Modi’s guarantee. PM said the role of milk producers in the domain of fulfilling nutrition needs of the nation is very important.

PM Modi in this function held at Motera stadium dedicate Amul Dairy Anand’s automatic UHT plant and expansion of paneer chocolate plants. PM also dedicated Sabar Dairy’s 30 MT/day capacity cheese plant and 45 mt/day capacity whey powder manufacturing plant. PM dedicated Kutch based Sarhad dairy’s automatic ice-cream making plant. He also dedicated Bharuch based Dudhdhara dairy’s dairy processing plant in Navi Mumbai.PM launched Rajkot based Gopal dairy’s Rajkot Dairy Development Project.

The Prime Minister conveyed his pranam to cattle over their contribution to Amul’s success.

PM said many brands were built but nothing like Amul. He said Amul means trust, Amul means partnership of people, Amul means empowerment of farmers, Amul is addition of modernization, Amul means inspiration of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Amul means big dreams, Amul means big pledges and even larger achievements.

PM noted that Amul products are exported to over 50 countries. He pointed out there are more tha 18,000 groups, network of 36 lakh farmers, daily 3.5 crore liter milk storage, daily over Rs. 200 crore online payment to cattle keepers. ‘This is not easy,’ he added.

PM said the organization of small cattle keepers is now doing big tasks. It is the strength of organization and strength of cooperation.

PM said Amul is an example that how decisions taken with long-term thinking can change the fortune of upcoming generations.

PM recalled under the guidance of Sardar Patel, the foundations of Amul was laid and later it became Gujarat Milk Marketing Federation.

PM said India is today world’s largest milk producing nation. It has achieved 60 percent growth in milk production. While worldover dairy sector progresses at 2 percent rate, in India it grows at 6 percent rate.

PM said one specialty in India’s dairy sector is never discussed worldwide. The dairy sector that has Rs. 10 lakh crore turnover annually has 70 percent contribution of women. PM said dhanya, wheat and sugarcane’s total turnover is not Rs. 10 lakh crore, while dairy sector that has Rs. 10 lakh crore turnover has 70 percent workforce of women. He described women power as backbone of India’s dairy sector.

PM said in fast increasing population, the role of milk producers in the domain of providing nutrition is very important. He hailed the pledge of milk producers to double the plant processing capacity in next five years. PM pointed out that Amul is at present the 8th largest dairy company in the world and added ‘you have to make it world’s largest dairy company, and government is with you to cooperate, and this is Modi’s guarantee.’

PM spoke about the decisions taken in previous evening’s cabinet meeting. One of decisions was about livestock development and conservation. PM also spoke about various schemes of government pertaining to farmers, cattle keepers and women. DeshGujarat
