3 held for burning Rupala’s effigy in Rajkot; 7 booked in Keshod

Rajkot: 10 people have been booked in two separate FIRs in Rajkot and Keshod of Junagadh on Saturday night for burning effigies of Union Minister and BJP’s candidate for Rajkot Lok Sabha seat, Parshottam Rupala. These people are booked for unlawful assembly and violating a public notification issued by district collectors.

In Rajkot, three individuals were arrested by Pradyumna Nagar police for burning an effigy of Rupala in Rail Nagar on Saturday. The arrested individuals, including Narendrasinh Jadeja, Mahendrasinh Parmar, and Navalsinh Jadeja, were released on bail shortly after their arrest.

In Keshod, seven people were booked for violating a government notification after burning Rupala’s effigy in Koylana village on Saturday evening.

On March 22nd, Rupala spoke at Karsan Saghathiya’s bhajan event where he admired the Rukhi community, who belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC). During his admiration of the Rukhi community, Rupala mentioned that even the rulers had a Roti-Beti relationship with the British, referring to the practice of breaking bread together and interfaith weddings between the rulers’ families and the British.

Rupala’s remark didn’t mention the words like Kshatriyas or Rajputs, but still, he apologized twice for the remarks. However, even after the apologies, certain groups within the Kshatriya community are not willing to drop the matter and are demanding Rupala’s replacement as a candidate. DeshGujarat
