Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is a crucial battleground in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. All 26 seats in the state were contested in a single phase on May 7, with vote counting scheduled for June 4.
Gujarat is a stronghold for the Bharatiya Janata Party, which reaffirmed its dominance by winning all 26 seats in the 2019 elections for the second consecutive time. Notably, the BJP has replaced five sitting MPs this election cycle, indicating a strategic adjustment.
Opposition parties, including the Indian National Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and other regional factions, appear to have struggled to regain footing in the state. In both the 2019 and 2014 elections, the INC failed to win any seats in Gujarat. This time, the Congress fielded candidates in 23 seats, its INDI bloc ally AAP contested 2 seats, and the Samajwadi Party contested 1 seat. DeshGujarat
