Bharuch: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has implemented revised toll tax rates at approximately 1100 toll plazas. Starting today, toll fees have undergone a 3% to 5% increase nationwide, including the Mandva Toll Plaza adjacent to the Narmada Bridge on National Highway 48.

The Mandva toll plaza, also known as the Narmada Bridge toll plaza in Bharuch, is situated within the Vadodara-Surat segment of NH48. NH48, a significant national highway in India, originates in Delhi and terminates in Chennai, traversing seven states. Covering a total distance of 2807 km (1744 miles), NH48 passes through Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.

NHAI officials have clarified that this toll rate adjustment is part of an annual procedure, guided by fluctuations in the wholesale price index-based inflation. Traditionally, NHAI revises toll charges every April. However, this year, owing to the Lok Sabha general elections, the updated rates have been enforced starting from June 3rd. The decision to escalate toll plaza fees was taken two months following the directive from the Election Commission of India, aligning with the conclusion of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
