16 rescued after staircase collapse at apartment building in Paldi

Ahmedabad: A part of the staircase in Vardhman Flats near Mahalakshmi Char Rasta in the Paldi area of the city collapsed late Tuesday night. The fire department arrived at the scene, and 16 individuals were rescued with the help of a hydraulic platform.
The incident occurred at 10:30 pm on Monday when the stairs of the Vardhman Flats collapsed during heavy rains, leaving the residents stranded as there was no way to come down. Upon hearing a loud noise, nearby locals came out, informed the fire brigade team, and the Jamalpur fire station team reached the scene.
The rescue team of the fire brigade started to evacuate the people trapped in more than ten of these houses. People trapped in the flats were slowly lowered through both windows and doors using a hydraulic platform (ladder). A total of 16 people were safely rescued by the fire brigade team. There were no casualties in this incident. Upon learning about the incident, Ellisbridge MLA and BJP City President Amit Shah and corporators of the Paldi Ward also reached the spot. DeshGujarat
