Ahmedabad: The city civic body on Monday sealed Purohit Restaurant after a customer found a caterpillar in the food he had ordered from the restaurant via an online food delivery app.
The customer, who had ordered lunch from Purohit Restaurant located in the Kankaria area, found an insect in his vegetable dish. When he called the restaurant about this issue, the owner offered to send another tiffin. Later, the customer lodged a complaint with the health department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
In response to the complaint, authorities conducted an inspection of the restaurant’s kitchen and premises. It was found that the restaurant was not adhering to the pest control measures required by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulations. Additionally, the restaurant was undergoing repair work, which raised further concerns about its overall hygiene standards, leading to the sealing of the establishment. DeshGujarat
