Administrator’s rule in Junagadh as 5-year term of elected body ends

Junagadh: At 6 o’clock this evening in Junagadh Municipal Corporation (JMC), the term of the elected wing will be over and the administrator’s rule will be implemented in the city from next morning.

Office bearers, including mayor, deputy mayor, and chairman of the standing committee, will vacate their offices.

Junagadh city was ruled by the BJP from 2019 to 2024. BJP won a clear majority with 55 out of a total 60 seats.

During this five-year reign, a total grant of Rs. 1560 crores was given by the state and central government to JMC, out of which Rs. 700 crores worth of works are underway. The road works worth crores are going on in the city. In five years, the Municipal Corporation had undertaken a total of 1082 works, out of which 672 works have been completed. Also, this week the Chief Minister of the state inaugurated and kicked off another Rs 397 crore worth of development works in the city.

This week, the exercise of vacating the offices of the office bearers, including the mayor, deputy mayor, standing committee chairman, and leader of the ruling party, was started. The mobile phones and cars received by the office bearers from public tax money are deposited. DeshGujarat
