AMC approves proposal for permanent allotment of playground plot to Prakash School
August 09, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Standing Committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has approved a proposal for the permanent allotment of a playground plot to Prakash School in Bodakdev. This proposal has been forwarded to the state government for final approval.
Although the Town Planning Act does not currently permit permanent allotments, approval from the state government could allow 13 other schools in the western part of the city to secure permanent playground plots.
Currently, 14 schools in Vejalpur, Thaltej, Ghatlodia, and Memnagar lease their playground plots from the AMC. These leases require that the playgrounds be accessible to local residents outside school hours. The schools pay annual rents based on jantri rates and have been advocating for permanent ownership of these plots.
The plot in question for Prakash School is 4,571 sq m and is valued at Rs 25,000 per sq m according to jantri rates. Notably, a similar proposal for playground allotment by Prakash School was rejected by the standing committee in May 2023. DeshGujarat
