Rs 48 crore spent to repair sinkholes in Ahmedabad over past 4 years

Ahmedabad: 33 sinkholes emerged in the city during this monsoon season. Over the past four years, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has spent Rs 48 crore to repair 319 significant sinkholes.
The distribution of sinkholes over the past four years includes 28 in the North Zone, 49 in the West Zone, 40 in the East Zone, 56 in the South Zone, 50 in the Central Zone, 33 in the South West Zone, and 63 in the North West Zone.
Opposition leader Shehzad Khan Pathan has demanded action to ensure better road quality and relief from the sinkhole problem. Pathan pointed out that the AMC allocates Rs 1,000 crore annually for road resurfacing, yet 319 sinkholes have occurred over the last four years. DeshGujarat
