CBI searches 5 locations in Gujarat, Rajasthan in DA case against telecom officer

Ahmedabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at five locations in Gujarat and Rajasthan related to a case involving disproportionate assets worth Rs 1.48 crore linked to a 1999-batch Indian Telecom Service (ITS) officer and others.

In its official statement, CBI said that it has “registered a case against an ITS (Indian Telecom Service :1999) Officer and others, on allegations of possessing disproportionate assets. It was alleged that accused (ITS:1999), while working in Rajasthan amassed assets in his name and in the name of his family members (Wife), (Mother) and HUF at Jaipur, Ajmer, and other different places in Rajasthan.”

“It was further alleged that the said public servant had acquired assets in his name and in the name of his family members to the tune of Rs.1,48,83,998/- (approx) which were disproportionate to his known sources of income during the period from 01.01.2014 to 31.01.2017.” the statement added.

Searches were conducted at 05 locations, including Jaipur, Ajmer, and Ahmedabad (Gujarat), at the official and residential premises of the accused, which led to the recovery of incriminating documents and Rs. 2.5 lakh from the residence of the accused at Ajmer.
