Schools keep classes as there were no Muslim students; Ahmedabad DEO serves notices
September 17, 2024
Ahmedabad: Several schools in the eastern and western parts of the city stayed open on Monday, disregarding the public holiday for Eid-E-Milad. As per state education department regulations, schools are required to close on all official holidays. Following complaints from parents, the Ahmedabad city district education officer (DEO) issued show-cause notices to these schools on Tuesday.
It has come to light that schools in areas such as Vastrapur, CG Road, and Hansol continued their classes despite the holiday. Parents criticized this decision, calling it a violation of state government rules. “We are aware that some schools did not observe Eid-E-Milad as a holiday. Notices will be sent, and explanations will be demanded on Tuesday,” said Rohit Chaudhary, Ahmedabad City DEO. DeshGujarat
