Amreli: A ‘lucky’ Wagon R car of a farmer was given Samadhi (burial) in Padarshinga village of Amreli district in the presence of over 1,000 invited guests.
The car owner and local farmer-cum-businessman Sanjay Polra believes that he progressed in life after he bought this lucky car. He said he didn’t want to sell his lucky car and therefore decided to give it an honorable exit by burying it in the ground with the last rites ceremony as per religious customs.
Polra printed invitation cards and distributed them among well-wishers to invite them to the Samadhi ceremony. He also organized a mass meal to mark the occasion. The ceremony was attended by invited guests from Ahmedabad and Surat as well. The ceremony, which saw a mass meal for 1,500 people, took place at a cost of Rs. 4 lakh.
The car was decorated with rose petals and marigold garlands. A coconut was attached to it, the same way it is generally attached to a dead body as per Hindu customs. The car was taken through a slope to a 15-ft deep space specially created for the Samadhi of the car in Polra’s own farm. Samadhi was given after the puja of the car. A large green cloth was prepared to cover the car before its Samadhi.
