Average 67.13 percent voting recorded till 5 pm in Vav assembly by-poll

Palanpur: The polling process for the by-elections to the 07-Vav assembly seat has been completed in a peaceful atmosphere.

On November 13, 2024, in the voting process, which started at 07 am, an average of 67.13 percent voting was recorded until 05 pm.

Webcasting was done from all the 321 polling stations of Vav Assembly Constituency with the determination to hold transparent elections.

01 BU, 01 CU, and 03 VVPATs were changed till 5:00 pm during polling. In case BU, CU, or VVPAT needed to be replaced at any polling station, BU, CU, or VVPAT were replaced from the reserve machine held by the Sector Officer.

After voting began at 7 a.m., the turnout in the first two hours, by 9 a.m., was 14.25%. By 11 a.m., it had reached 24.39%; at 1 p.m., it was recorded at 39.12%; and at 3 p.m., it was 55.03%.

A total of 10 candidates, including those from the BJP, Congress, and independents, are competing in the Vav assembly by-election. The BJP has fielded Swarupji Thakor, while Congress has nominated Gulab Singh Rajput. Mavji Patel, a BJP rebel, is running as an independent. The seat has been held by Congress in the last two assembly elections, with winning margins in the thousands of votes.

Approximately 3.10 lakh voters were eligible to cast their ballots across 321 booths in 192 polling centers of the 07-Vav Assembly Constituency. Of these, 97 polling stations are considered sensitive and have been equipped with webcasting cameras and heavy police presence. A total of 1,500 security personnel, including 4 DySPs, 8 PIs, and 30 PSIs, have been deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the election.

The electorate includes 161,296 male voters, 149,478 female voters, and 1 third-gender voter, bringing the total to 310,775 voters. The results of the Vav by-election will be announced on November 23, 2024, alongside the results of the Maharashtra and Jharkhand State Assembly elections and other by-elections across the country.
