Surat Airport to introduce Digi Yatra facility ‘very soon’

Surat: In good news for travelers, Surat International Airport is set to implement the Digi Yatra facility, with installation already underway. The system is expected to be operational very soon, offering passengers a faster and more seamless airport experience.

With Digi Yatra, passengers can bypass CISF-manned entry gates and move effortlessly within the terminal up to the boarding gate. The system uses facial recognition technology to verify details, eliminating the need for manual ID checks. Surat will become the second airport in Gujarat, after Ahmedabad, to adopt this facility.

In an X post, the Surat International Airport authorities said, “Installation of digiyatra is in progress and Very soon Digiyatra will be operational at Surat international airport for passenger convenience. It will facilitate passengers for fast and efficient security clearance as long ques will be avoided by digiyatra passengers.”

How Digi Yatra Works

Digi Yatra kiosks will be installed at three key locations: the departure entry gate, security hold area (SHA), and boarding gate. A senior official explained that passengers will no longer need to present ID cards and tickets to CISF personnel at the entry gate. Instead, travelers must first register their details on the Digi Yatra app and link their travel information. On the day of travel, they simply pass through the Digi Yatra gate for automatic facial recognition-based entry.

Once inside the terminal, passengers can use a digital boarding pass for security checks and boarding. Those registered on the Digi Yatra app do not need to show a physical ID card at any stage of the process.

Currently, 24 airports across India, including Ahmedabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Cochin, have implemented Digi Yatra, with more airports set to follow. DeshGujarat
