Gujarat Offers 50% Bus Fare Concession to Cancer Patients and Attendants for Treatment Travel

Gandhinagar: In a move to ease the burden on citizens battling cancer, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) is providing a significant 50% concession on normal bus fares for cancer patients and their attendants. This initiative facilitates travel from their residences to designated cancer hospitals in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Surat for medical treatment.
The scheme, operating under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and the guidance of Minister of State for Transport Shri Harsh Sanghvi, aims to provide crucial support to those undergoing cancer treatment. While the state government’s Ayushman card offers broader coverage for critical illnesses, this specific fare concession addresses the travel needs associated with cancer care.
Over the past three years, this compassionate initiative has benefited more than 3.5 lakh cancer patients and their accompanying attendants across Gujarat, alleviating some of the financial strain associated with frequent travel for medical procedures.
To avail of this concession, cancer patients are required to submit a simple application on plain paper. This application must be accompanied by a certificate from the Civil Surgeon and should be submitted at the nearest ST bus station. DeshGujarat
