GHB residents, civic group allege TDR misuse in redevelopment projects; submit memo to AMC
August 01, 2025
Ahmedabad: Residents of Gujarat Housing Board (GHB) colonies, along with civic advocacy group Nagrik Seva Sangathan (NSS), have submitted a memorandum to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), demanding strict action against officials accused of illegally granting Transferable Development Rights (TDR) to developers involved in GHB society redevelopment projects. They have called for an impartial investigation by an independent agency, alleging that the misuse of TDR has led to financial losses worth crores to the state.
NSS, which tracks transparency and governance issues related to GHB and associated bodies, approached the municipal commissioner to raise concerns over what they allege is systemic corruption. The memorandum claims that developers awarded redevelopment tenders under GHB guidelines have profited by selling TDRs in the open market, leaving the government to absorb the resulting losses.
