Narmada: With nearly 99% of average monsoon rainfall recorded across Gujarat as of this morning, the state’s major dams are showing robust water storage levels.

As per the latest data at 12 noon, the Sardar Sarovar Dam, Gujarat’s largest dam, has a present gross storage of 8,667.5 million cubic meters (MCM), equating to 91.62% of its design capacity. The dam is witnessing an inflow of over 2.5 lakh cusecs, against which more than 3.8 lakh cusecs is being discharged downstream into the river, and around 22,000 cusecs is being released into the Narmada canal.

Ukai, the second-largest dam, has a present gross storage of 6,183.09 MCM, which is 83.39% of its full capacity. Current inflows are strong at 40,787 cusecs, with nearly similar outflows into the river and canal systems.

Kadana Dam is 94.41% full and witnessing a heavy inflow from upstream areas of around 2.4 lakh cusecs, which is being completely released downstream as of 12 noon through 14 gates of the dam. Meanwhile, Panam Dam has a present gross storage of 563.85 MCM, which is 97.52% of capacity, with over 66,000 cusecs released against an inflow of 67,000 cusecs.
