Ahmedabad: The standing committee of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on Friday approved a proposal to widen the road leading to Narendra Modi Stadium from 24.38 metres to 30 metres. The route passes along the northern boundary of Torrent Power Ltd., through Subhashnagar, east of Chharanagar and Harivan na Chhapra, and continues via Baldevnagar towards the stadium.

Devang Dani, chairman of the standing committee, said, “As part of preparations for hosting the Olympics and Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, road-widening work is underway.” He added that the project will impact around 31 plots and approximately 200 houses, and alternative arrangements will be made for all affected parties.

For plots acquired, transferable development rights (TDR) certificates will be issued, while homeowners who can provide proof of construction before 2010 will be offered alternative housing. DeshGujarat
