All offices under Charity Commissioner to go fully online in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Minister of State for Law and Justice, Kaushik Vekariya, held an extensive review meeting with senior officials of the Law Department to discuss key administrative matters and directed prompt action for their resolution. During the meeting, the minister placed special emphasis on improving administration and strengthening the functioning of the Office of the Charity Commissioner, said a government release.

Mandatory Online Operations and Technological Upgrade

To enhance transparency and efficiency in administration, Minister Vekariya instructed that all work at the Charity Commissioner’s office and its subordinate offices be made fully online. To facilitate this transition, he ordered the immediate allocation of 35 additional computers to the department for official use.

Increase in Manpower and Budgetary Provisions

Taking serious note of the shortage of staff in the Charity Commissioner’s establishment, the minister directed a significant increase in sanctioned posts. Currently, 38 positions for accountants and inspectors are approved; this number will be tripled in the upcoming budget proposal. Additionally, the sanctioned strength of Deputy Charity Commissioners will be increased from eight to twelve.

Provision of Vehicles for Field Inspection Work

Addressing logistical challenges faced by officers and staff, the minister instructed that vehicles be provided to the Charity Commissioner and subordinate officials for inspection and fieldwork. Necessary budgetary provisions for this will also be made in the next financial plan.

Administrative Reforms and Employee Welfare

In a major decision aimed at administrative convenience and employee welfare, the minister approved that the service period rendered as Deputy Charity Commissioner will be counted continuously toward the 10-year experience requirement for promotion to the post of Joint Commissioner.

These reforms are expected to significantly boost efficiency, transparency, and modernization across the department’s operations. DeshGujarat
