Accused BMW driver gets bail in Rajkot college student crash case

Rajkot: A tragic accident claimed the life of a college student near Crystal Mall on Kalavad Road on Monday night. The victim, Abhishek Nathani (20), was on his way to meet friends when he was hit by a speeding BMW car, which led to his death on the spot.

Following the incident, the taluka police registered a case against the car driver, Atman Patel, a resident of Mota Mawa village, and arrested him. However, the family of the deceased has expressed outrage over the release of the accused on bail.

Speaking to the media, Abhishek’s mother, Vishalben Nathani, said, “The ashes of my son’s pyre have not even settled, and the accused has already been granted bail.”

Abhishek’s brother, Keval Nathani, alleged that his brother was thrown about 250 meters after being hit, not just 50 meters as previously reported. He also claimed that the police did not provide sufficient information and hid the face of the accused. “We want justice for him,” he said.

Meanwhile, the police, who had booked Atman under BNS Sections 106(1), 281, and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, stated that the investigation is ongoing. DeshGujarat
