Indian Captain Suryakumar Yadav Visits Adalaj Stepwell After T20 World Cup Victory

Gandhinagar: After leading India to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup, captain Suryakumar Yadav visited the historic Adalaj Vav in Gandhinagar on Monday for an official photoshoot with the World Cup trophy, continuing the International Cricket Council’s tradition of linking major victories with iconic cultural landmarks.

India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final played on Sunday, becoming T20 World Champions once again. Following the triumph, the Indian captain posed with the trophy at the 15th-century stepwell, one of Gujarat’s most renowned historical monuments.

ICC tradition of iconic photoshoots

According to established practice, the winning captain participates in an official photoshoot with the World Cup trophy at a site of historical or cultural significance. The idea is to associate each tournament victory with a memorable location, creating a visual legacy for future generations.

Similar moments have taken place in the past. After India won the 2011 ODI World Cup, captain MS Dhoni posed with the trophy at the Gateway of India in Mumbai, while after a recent T20 triumph, Rohit Sharma also took part in a photoshoot at a scenic coastal location.

Visit to temple after victory

After the final match in Ahmedabad, Suryakumar Yadav and other team members were also seen visiting a Hanuman temple late at night with the trophy, where they offered prayers. ICC Chairman Jay Shah and head coach Gautam Gambhir were present during the visit. DeshGujarat
