New Delhi: The Government of India has sanctioned 54 Solar Parks sanctioned under the scheme for “Development of Solar Parks and Ultra-Mega Solar Power Projects” as on 28 February, 2026. Out of these, 7 Solar Parks are in Gujarat. The state ranks No. 1 with 12,150 MW of sanctioned power generation capacities under this scheme. The information was provided by Union Minister of State for New & Renewable Energy Shri Shripal Yesso Naik in Rajya Sabha on March 10, 2026, while replying to a question raised by RS MP Shri Parimal Nathwani.

Following Gujarat, Rajasthan is at number two position with total 11 solar parks having sanctioned power generation capacity of 10,726 MW. The total sanctioned power generation capacity of 54 Solar Parks in the country is 39,188 MW.

Talking about the challenges faced in implementation of the projects, the minister said that the major challenges in implementation of solar energy projects, including that of the Solar Park Scheme, inter-alia involves acquisition of clear land, matching the timelines for creation of transmission infrastructure and development of renewable energy projects, delay in tariff adoption, etc. Ministry is making all necessary efforts to mitigate these challenges through regular meetings and communications with respective State/UTs and other stakeholders, he said.

Shri Nathwani wanted to know about the number of solar parks developed or being developed under Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects Scheme, the details of energy generation targets with the help of these solar projects in the country and the steps taken by Government to overcome major challenges it is facing implementing this scheme.
