Gandhinagar: A political controversy has erupted after Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge made a contentious remark while addressing a gathering in Kerala, drawing sharp reactions from leaders in Gujarat.

During his speech, Kharge said, “Don’t misguide the people of Kerala. They are very clever, they are educated. Modi ji, Vijay, you both can fool people who are illiterate in Gujarat or in other places, but you can’t fool Kerala people.” The statement, apparently taken as derogatory towards Gujaratis, quickly triggered backlash.
