Unseasonal rains likely to return in parts of Gujarat on April 7: IMD forecast

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast largely dry weather across Gujarat over the next week, with a brief spell of rain and thunderstorms expected in isolated districts on April 7.

The IMD has predicted light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) at isolated places on April 7.

As per the bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely in 18 districts, including Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, and Narmada.

In Saurashtra-Kutch, districts such as Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, and Kutch may also receive light rainfall. The remaining parts of the state are expected to experience dry conditions.

No warnings have been issued for the remaining days, with dry weather expected to prevail across the state before and after this brief spell.

Temperature Trends

Maximum temperatures are expected to remain stable over the next three days, followed by a gradual rise of 2–3°C across Gujarat. In Ahmedabad, a partly cloudy sky is expected until the morning of April 7, with the maximum temperature likely to hover around 36°C.

Synoptic Situation

A western disturbance currently lies over central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab, influencing weather patterns over the region. Another fresh western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from April 7, which may trigger the brief spell of rain in parts of Gujarat.

Advisory Issued

The IMD has advised residents in affected districts to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity. Strong winds may lead to tree damage, disruption of power lines, and minor damage to kutcha structures. People are advised to stay indoors during storms, avoid sheltering under trees, and keep away from electrical conductors.

Outlook

No significant change in weather conditions is expected for the subsequent two days beyond April 12, indicating continued dry conditions across Gujarat. DeshGujarat
