April 08, 2026
Surendranagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out a trap operation at the Mamlatdar office in Lakhtar, catching two accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000. The accused include Kanaksinh Wadhubha Jhala, an outsourced peon at the Mamlatdar’s office in Lakhtar, and Jaideepsinh Hanubha Parmar, a Deputy Mamlatdar (Revenue Department, Class-3).
According to the ACB, the complainant approached the agency after the accused allegedly demanded a bribe to certify revenue records related to agricultural land in Vadla village of Lakhtar taluka. Initially, a demand of ₹50,000 was made, which was later reduced to ₹30,000 during negotiations.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant contacted the Surendranagar ACB and lodged a formal complaint. Based on this, a trap was organised on April 7.
During the operation, the accused demanded ₹20,000 from the complainant. Accused Kanaksinh Jhala accepted the bribe amount, following which ACB officials caught both accused on the spot. The entire amount of ₹20,000 was recovered during the trap.
Officials said the accused misused their positions as public servants and acted in collusion to commit the offence. Further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
