Ahmedabad, 9 October 2013
Rais Khan Pathan, a former employee of activist Teesta Setalvad’s NGO Citizen for Justice & Peace (CJP) on Tuesday claimed that he had demanded interrogation of retired DGP RB Sreekumar for his alleged link with Setalvad and Muslim radical groups. Pathan has written a letter to Ahmedabad Police Commissioner in this regard on the basis of his telephonic conversation with Shrikumar, which he recorded.
According to the letter dated October 3, 2013, he got a call from Srikumar from cell no. 9824061182 on November 4, 2010 which lasted for 17 minutes. “It is my request, you do whatever you want, but it should not benefit VHP people. It will spoil what we have done till date. Can I do something to compromise with Teesta Setalvad? By associating you with VHP, the terrorist groups will target you. If you will work against Muslims, the Muslims will also turn against you. We have to work together, if we fight with each other, the enemy will be benefited. The benefit will go to Modi,” said Sreekumar to Pathan according to the letter.
Pathan said that after this conversation, various efforts were made for a compromise between him and Teesta Setalvad. “When I refused to compromise, Muslim fundamentals started threatening me. During 14th October, 2011 to 17th October, 2011, I received several threatening calls from Idrishbhai Davawala of Jamate-E-Ulemai Hind and Khalid of Mumra, Mumbai,” he said adding that he finally lodged Police complaint on October 23, 2011.
Khan in his letter stated that Sreekumar is closely associated with Teesta and he knows her working and her association.
“It seems that R B Srikumar knew about the association of radical groups with Teesta Setalvad. His mild threat to me either “compromise or terrorist groups will target me” and later on receiving threatening calls from the member of Jamate-ulema-e-Hind and the Muslim radical groups proves beyond doubt that there is some link between SriKumar, Setalvad & these radical groups,” claimed Pathan.
