Ahmedabad, 19 November 2013
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) will take decision on starting a bicycle feeder service for Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) commuters this week.
The standing committee meeting on 21 November will discuss a proposal dated 7 November on allotment of space for parking at Re.1 per ft token rate clubbed with advertisement rights to implement the “MyByk” project.
MyByk will be a bicycle feeder service implemented on pilot project basis for JanMarg BRTS commuters. It will offer first and last mile connectivity to BRTS commuters through bicycles. MyByk cycle sharing service will play a role of feeder service.
The pilot project is likely to be carried out at Shivrajnajani and its nearby BRTS stations on and around Satellite road.
According to the proposal, commuters can get off at any BRTS station and rent a cycle to go to their place of work or study. Further, they would have the liberty to submit the cycle at any BRTS station before availing of the bus to go home. As per the plan, token or a card will be issued to those taking the cycles and once it is returned to the nearest station, the card will be marked as submitted. The pilot project, once approved, will take around six months to materialize. Nearly 300-400 cycles will be in use for the purpose.
