Inauguration of BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, 9 August 2014, Robbinsville, New Jersey

The BAPS chapter in USA wil be inaugurating a traditionally carved mandir in Robbinsville, New Jersey, which will see the completion of the first phase of the long-term construction project of Swaminarayan Akshardham. The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Robinsvile, New Jersey, is built in alignment with the Hindu Sthapatya Shastras folowing a traditon thousands of years old. Inspired by His Holines Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the intricately hand-carved mandir is built o last a thousand years.

The mandir’s inauguration will be a testament to the dedication, service and devotion of hundreds of volunteers and well-wishers.

The intricately carved stone Mandir is 134 ft long and 87 ft wide, comprising of 108 pilars and three garbhgruhs. The entire mandir has been covered by a permanent canopy to ward of rain, heat and snow during darshan and rituals.

After its opening the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, like all its other mandirs, will not only be a centre of Hindu rituals, celebrations and discourses but also a hub of services to society related to health, moral education, relief work in times of calamity and serving the needy.

The mandir will enshrine the images of Shri Akshar-Purushotam Maharaj, Shri Ghanshyam Maharaj, Shri Guru Parampara and the deites of Sanatan Dharma.

If his health permits, H.H. Pramukh Swami Maharaj is scheduled to perform the murti-pratishtha rituals at the mandir in Robbinsville on 9 August 2014.
