A group of Congress workers today created ruckus in the office of Standing Committee Chairman of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) on the issue of water logging following 13 inch rain in city.
Congress workers damaged furniture, computer monitor, threw water on Standing Committee Chairman Bhupendra Patel and used language that can’t be mentioned in this article.
As TV journalists were informed in advance about such protest, the entire episode was captured in video and relayed on various TV channels.
The ruckus ended when Leader of Opposition Badruddin Sheikh and city Congress President Chetan Rawal intervened.
Reacting to this ugly incident, Sheikh claimed the protesters were not Congress workers. They were just common citizens. He said The ruling BJP doesn’t believe in democracy and therefore they deserve this style of agitation.
Standing Committee Chairman Bhupendra Patel said anyone is welcome to represent his grievances, but a group that came to my office today didn’t want to represent something, they just came and started creating ruckus.
BJP leader Mayur Dave said the AMC has video footage of entire episode and he has spoken to city Police Commissioner on today’s attack on Standing Committee Chairman within his office. Dave said he told Police Commissioner that Karanj Police Inspector didn’t do anything to stop the group when Chairman was attacked.
Update:
50 Congress workers including 5 Councillors Badruddin Sheikh, Liyakat Ghori, Taufiq Khan are booked by Karanj Police station.
