Ahmedabad, 9 August, 2014
As we reported in the past, Gujarat Congress today floated an NGO called ‘Jan Sangharsh Sena’ in Ahmedabad.
A convention in this regard was held in presence of Congress leaders former Patan MP Jagdish Thakor, former MLA CJ Chavda, former Ahmedabad Mayor Himmatsinh Patel, city Congress president Chetan Rawal among others.
Leftist/socialist faces like Prakash Shah and Indukumar Jani were sitting on stage in this function as leaders of Jan Sangharsh Sena. Also on stage were Sanjay Dave who has worked with parents of missing children and Hemantkumar Shah, a professor of economics who has criticized the BJP government in Gujarat through publications and seminars.
The NGO will open its website on 15 August. Conventions of youths and women are planned in couple of months.
Congress leaders in Gujarat felt that people were not joining Congress’s agitations and therefore it was necessory to float a non political organization backed and inspired by Congress to hold agitations against the government.
Congress is not in power either in municipal corporation, district panchayat(barring one in Gujarat which is Tapi) , state or centre. Congress party has also lost on all 26 seats in recently concluded Lok Sabha general elections in Gujarat. The only way to show presence of Congress is agitations, dharna, protests, press releases and video byte on news channels. The new NGO will play its role in this regard.
