One interesting portion of this story features silent job of service to earthquake victims in Nepal performed by Gujarati women in Mumbai. Attached here is the portion of that part:

Editor’s note in addition to this article:

Thepla is kind of roti in Gujarat that is very useful during long travel. It’s wisdom of Gujarati women in Mumbai to identify usefulness of Thepla in Nepal crisis. They deserve congratulations. If a Gujarati is out on traveling for three days and if he has home-made thepla in a lunch box in his bag, he can easily consume it during entire journey. Theplas would not lose its quality or taste. In fact many Gujaratis do try this. Once I was in south Mumbai halting briefly in a flat of possibly richest Surti Jain diamond trader based in Mumbai. He was leaving for Surat with bunch of theplas in his bag. He was planning to consume it during the journey and his stay in Surat. When I travel with family outside Amdavad, we don’t forget to have thepla in our bag. So what if we stay in a five-star hotel? We at least take one lunch of home-made thepla with Chhundo or Amul Shrikhand in hotel room.
