Gujarat CM launches works for North-South corridor (Line-2) of Ahmedabad Metro

Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat today performed ground breaking for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project’s North-South Corridor (Line-2) near Jivraj Park Cross Road, on 132 ft. Ring Road at Vejalpur, Ahmedabad.
After performing ground breaking, the Chief Minister said, it’s an achievement for the Government to perform ground breaking of Line-2 of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project within 9 months of inauguration of the work of Line-1.
She added that with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA Government in centre, all the developmental projects including metro rail will be completed within time limit.
She also announced that Metro will connect Gandhinagar in the second phase for which initial preparations have been started.
The state government has recently given its consent for the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for metro connectivity to Gandhinagar. Government is also planning to have metro rail services in Surat city, she added.
Line-2 of the Ahmedabad Metro project is going to connect Motera with APMC, Vasna and will be passing through the important areas of the city like Paldi, Jivraj, Shreyas, Rajivnagar, Gandhigram Railway station and Sabarmati etc. The length of this corridor is approximately 19 km with 15 elevated stations along the route. Completion cost of this line will be approximately Rs.4500 crore which is expected to be completed within 3 years.
North-South Corridor will be approximately 19 km long and entire lengh will be elevated. There’s no provision of underground or surface portion in this route.
Metro stations on North-South corridor will be in cronology, APMC, Jivraj, Rajivnagar, Shreyas, Paldi, Gandhigram Railway station, Old High Court (interchange station with East-West corridor), Usmanpura, Vijaynagar, Nava Vadaj, Ranip, Sabarmati railway station, AEC, Sabarmati, Motera stadium.
Depot at Gyaspur will be connected to AMPC/Vasna.
While metro-metro interchange station will be at Old High Court in Navrangpura area, the metro-Indian Railway interchange will be available at Gandhigram railway station, Sabarmati railway station and AEC. Metro – Gujarat Road Transport Corporation(GSRTC or ST) interchange will be available at Ranip and Paldi. Metro – BRTS – AMTS interchange will be available at APMC, Jivraj and Nava Vadaj. – DeshGujarat

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today said the ambitious metro rail project to connect Ahmedabad with Gandhinagar will be completed within four years.
Patel today performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the 19 kms-long north-south corridor of Metro-link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad (MEGA), a special purpose vehicle created by the state government to carry out the work.
The elevated corridor starts from APMC market and ends at Motera village on the city outskirts.
About six months back, Patel had performed the ground- breaking ceremony for the east-west corridor, which runs from Vastral in east to Thaltej in the west side of the city.
She also announced today that the MEGA company has been granted permission to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the upcoming third phase development.
“Today, we are starting the work for the second phase of Metro project. Around six months back, we started work for the first phase of the project from Vastral area and it is going on in full swing at present. Our government is determined to finish these projects in time,” the CM said at the function held in Jivraj Park area here.
“I want to tell our friends in Congress that this government fulfils all its promises and keeps a close watch on progress. We will complete the Metro project within four years time,” she said.
After completion of these two phases, the Metro will be stretched till Gandhinagar in the third phase, she said.
“In the third phase, we will stretch this service till Gandhinagar. We have already granted permission to MEGA to prepare a DPR for the third phase of development,” she said.
