“Achal Mehta’s Rishabh group in Vadodara, India performing for Samvedan trust – Maa Shakti has registered its name in the Limca Book of Records for the largest garba gathering, dancing in totally traditional dresses.
During Navratri, garbas are performed all around in the world but the true flavor has been retained in Baroda only. The garbas are performed by the girls and boys who wear traditional dresses only go around the Centre Stage often referred to Mataji’s temple. The circle varies from 15-35 and all the girls and boys follow a pattern based on the type of song.
These garbas are sung non stop and the duration of the garbas on any particular day would range from 2 to 5 hrs. Apart from the Garba players, large public presence also use to be there, which just come to the ground to listen the songs.
“Teen Taali” and “Heentch” garba steps form, have originated & popularized years ago from Vadodara and can be seen all garba gatherings.
Rishabh group every year composes new songs and they have a huge collection of CD and cassettes like Sur, Vrundavan and Fagan No Kaif. All the songs sung by this group are dedicated to Lord Krishna and Ambema. There is a lot of purity in the music also and in none of the songs you can hear remixes of Hindi Film songs and even in live shows. The garba event was shown live by Etv Gujarati and other national channels. In the video you can see Achal Mehta performing Live at Vadodara during Navtrari of 2006”

Rather than the first video of Achal Mehta I liked the other songs presented here in various videos. Atul purohit amazingly jamavating navratri there. very happy to see baroda’s navratri.

I really enjoyed it. I use to participate in United Way of Vadodara at Old Padra Road. Now I am in USA, Enjoying Garba in USA but missing great time in Vadodara. Atul Purohit (Pela Dadhiwala Bhai) and Achal Mehta (Mucho wala) are two Kings of Vadodara Garba. Thanks for putting it togather.
Its great fun to see Baroda’s Garba in London. I am sure if you play garba once in Baroda you will never forget it. It will be golden days of your life. Disco dandia is Rubbish. Those who like Falguni Pathak and Disco Garba should see Baroda’s Garba once.

We watch garba on zee gujarati, Zee gujarati has some prejudice against Vadodara garba and does not show any inspite of writing to them. Ahmedabad garbas are BANDARIYA KA NACH ITS A SHAME whereas Vadodara garbas are rocking of true gujarati cluture. Show more vdeos of ACHAL AND ATULJI. THANKS.

can some one put nisha upadhyayæs garba also. she was a wonder voice in rishabh group way back in 90′s when i used to attend. baroda garba’s are strictly for people from baroda and it is their proud privilage to enjoy arkee and united way garba. to that matter it is a prized possesion of art and talent which baroda is having by hosting arkee and rishabh group.
