Gujarat’s decadal average agricultural growth eye-opener for country:Dr. Abdul Kalam

Former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam today inaugurated the college of Food Processing Technology and Bio Energy in Anand town in central Gujarat. He also dedicated a dairy processing plant at Vidya dairy here in presence of minister of state for agriculture, government of Gujarat Shri Govindbhai Patel.
The college of Food Processing Technology and Bio Energy has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 15 crore, while new processing plant in Vidya dairy dedicated today has been set up at a cost of Rs. 4.35 crore.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Kalam said, while nationally the agricultural growth rate has been hardly 4-5%, Gujarat’s decadal average growth rate in this sector has been as high as 9%, which is eye-opener for nation. Dr. Kalam stressed on the need of value addition in agriculture sector.
Dr. Kalam visited Food quality laboratory in campus. He interacted with the students and asked them to cultivate an ability to become leader.
Anand Agriculture University vice chancellor Dr. A.M.Sheikh said the food processing technology college now offers B.Tech and M.Tech courses while food quality laboratory is equipped to do 32 types of food tests which is first of its kind in India.
