Police nabs 2 in speaker blast in Vadali; Motive linked to extramarital affair

Sabarkantha: The police have detained two people in connection with the explosion from a speaker in Vadali taluka on Thursday, which resulted in the death of a man and his daughter while two other girls were injured in the incident. One of the detained people allegedly suspected his wife of having an affair with the deceased, Jitendra Vanzara.

As per the details of the case, an autorickshaw driver delivered a package to Jitu’s residence at around 12:30 pm. The explosion occurred when Jitu, along with his daughters Bhumika and Chhaya, and a neighbor girl named Shilpa (14), began to open the parcel. Jitu and Bhumika were pronounced dead upon arrival at the community health center in Vadali, while Chhaya and Shilpa were transferred to the civil hospital in Himmatnagar for treatment. One of the injured girls is in critical condition, currently on a ventilator

Later, investigations revealed that Jitu was involved in an extramarital affair with a woman from a nearby village. The woman’s husband, who worked in a mining company, allegedly obtained ammonium nitrate and rigged a speaker with it, leading to the fatal explosion. The police have detained the woman’s husband and the autorickshaw driver involved in delivering the package. Charges are being prepared against both suspects.

Gandhinagar forensics and Gujarat ATS officials investigated a crime scene. The incident, which occurred just a day after PM Modi’s rally, prompted the dispatch of a National Security Guard team. DeshGujarat
