Three cops held in Vadodara for assaulting a vendor

Vadodara: The Sayajigunj police, on Thursday, booked and arrested three cops for attempted murder after they were accused of causing serious harm to roadside vendor Faizan Sheikh.

Faizan allegedly faced brutality at the hands of constables Mubashir Salim and Raghuvir Bharat, and driver Kishan Parmar in Sayajigunj around 11:45 pm on Wednesday. The altercation reportedly began when police attempted to close Faizan’s omelet stall, and injuries led to his hospitalization.

While a police official claimed Faizan initially reacted aggressively, the situation escalated with Salim and Bharat physically assaulting him and ultimately dragging him with the police van, resulting in severe injuries.

The Minority Coordination Committee, Gujarat, in a letter to the Gujarat DGP, urged for stringent action against the accused officers. The committee demanded the suspension of the officers, compensation for Faizan, and the withdrawal of charges against him. DeshGujarat
