BMW hit-and-run case accused Vismay Shah, five others held from illegal liquor party

Ahmedabad: BMW hit-and-run case accused Vismay Shah and five others are arrested participating in illegal liquor party. Vismay Shah, his wife Pooja Shah (Patel), Chinmay Patel, Manthan Ganatra, Mimansa Buch, Chinmay Patel and Harshit Mahmudar are those arrested by local crime branch of Gandhinagar police.

Venue of liquor party was Balaji Kutir farm house owned by Ashish Shah. Vismay’s wedding was held on December 13. Vismay had filed plea in court to allow him to travel abroad for honeymoon, however the court had rejected his plea and opined early this week that there were enough places in India to go for honeymoon.

Police has recovered 3 hookah, 7 beer bottles, 8 foreign liquor bottles, one Mercedes car are recovered/seized from the venue.Police said one Russian citizen woman was present at the venue. She had liquor permit.

Vismay, a son of businessman, is accused of killing two youths – Shivam Dave (25) and Rahul Patel (21) on February 24, 2013 in hit and run incident.

– The venue of liquor party was Balaji Kutir, house number 16. Accused were sitting on the back side of the bungalow around fire. Swimming pool was decorated with series of lights and Christmas banner was put up above it. Accused had red glasses in hands. Pizza was served along with that. 3 empty beer bottles of Kingfisher brand, 3 Sola Dindori Reserve bottles, 4 other brand bottles were on tables in open condition. One Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve Whisky 750 ml had sticker mentioning ‘for sale in Gujarat only’. More liquor bottles were also there. 3 hookahs in working condition were also lying on tables.

– Chinmay Chaitanya Patel (34) from Kankaria was found drunk. Mercedes car key and one mobile phones were found from his possession. Visyam Shah from Manek Baug was also found drunk. He had two mobile phones in possession. Harshit Devdutt Majumdar from Nutan Society in Paldi, Mantha Ganatra from Sattelite, Puja Shah from Manekbaug, Mimansa Kashyap Buch fro Kothawala flat in Paldi were also smelling drunk. They were possessing mobile phones.

– Banned hookahs were brought by Chinmay Patel from Turkey in September this year. The flavors of hookahs are made in UAE and India.

– Accused are booked under Cigarettes and Other Tobaco Products (Prohibition Section 4(A), 21A of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution Gujarar Amendment Act 2017 and section 6, 24(1).
