Gujarat CM OKays 1500 cusec Narmada water supply for North Gujarat
April 15, 2022
Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has instructed Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited to supply 1500 cusecs Narmada water to North Gujarat for 10 days starting from 15th April.
The farmers of North Gujarat had recently demanded to supply water through the canals of Narmada yojna for cultivation of forage for cattle. CM Patel has accepted the demand. There was no planning of supplying water for summer irrigation due to less income of water in the current year in Sardar Sarovar Narmada Yojana, as per a statement. So, an appeal was made to the farmers to not cultivate crops relying on Narmada water. However, the forage for cattle is traditionally cultivated in the summer in North Gujarat. DeshGujarat
