CR Patil announces canal water supply in Banaskantha

Vadgam: State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president CR Patil while addressing a gathering in Banaskantha district of North Gujarat today announced that the water will be released in Sujlam Suflam canals in Banaskantha for 10 days, starting from today.

He said, “It was a demand of the people of this area, farmers of Banaskantha and North Gujarat. The MLAs and MPs of BJP, and also Shankarbhai Chaudhari had told Rajiv Gupta on call. The demand of releasing water in this area is approved. The water will be released. The decision has been made to release water through pipelines into Sujlam Suflam canals for 10 days. The releasing of the water will be started from today.”

It’s worth noting that Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi is going to visit Banaskantha on Tuesday, 19th April morning to inaugurate and lay foundation stone of various projects of Banas Dairy.

Patil chose to visit Vadgam assembly constituency in Banaskantha on birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Vadgam seat is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. It is traditionally believed Congress friendly constituency. However BJP had won here in the past and late Fakirbhai Vaghela was party MLA and minister from this constituency. Then Congress candidate Manibhai Vaghela who later defeated Fakirbhai has almost joined BJP.

Five years back, top Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had taken a decision to field left leaning activist Jignesh Mevani from Vadgam as an independent candidate and denied chance to Manibhai for his re-election. Vadgam has sizeable Muslim population, while Hindu voters stay divided. This makes Vadgam safe seat for Congress candidates. However party has decided to win this seat this time. DeshGujarat
