80 plus age voters will be able to cast their votes from home in Gujarat election: CEC

Gandhinagar: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar today in his press conference here said that 80 plus age senior citizens will be allowed to vote from home if they are ill or they wish for it. There are over 10 lakh voters in Gujarat who are above 80-year age.
The CEC said BLO (Booth Level Officer) will visit the home for vote of such persons and entire process will be done under videography.
He said party representatives, agents and candidates will be allowed to accompany the BLO. He said senior citizen will need to fill 12 D form for casting vote from home.

He said similar facility will be available for Divyang Jan (handicapped or specially abled) people also. If Divyang Jan choses to visit polling station, he/she will be given help of volunteer and ramp.
