November 23, 2023
Rajkot: The monsoon this year was over a couple of months ago, and Aaji Dam-1 which supplies water to Rajkot city is near empty. The dam was full during the monsoon. Now the level of water is down again. On-demand by the Municipal Corporation of Rajkot, the State government has started preparing for an 1800 MCFT water supply to the Aaji and Nyari dams of Rajkot.
It is learnt that in the initial phase, 800 MCFT water will be supplied to Aaji Dam-1 through the SAUNI yojana. Later in the summer, additional water will be supplied. The citizens of Rajkot get a daily 20-minute water supply.
SAUNI yojana was conceived and executed during the time of Narendrabhai Modi as Chief Minister. SAUNI has become a lifeline for not just Rajkot but the entire Saurashtra region. DeshGujarat
