Sipu Pipeline project inaugurated; 106 water bodies in 3 talukas to benefit

Banaskantha: Under the Tharad Sipu Reservoir Pipeline Project, a 70 km long pipeline near Mahajanpura in Tharad, laid at the cost of Rs. 592 crores, was inaugurated by Shankar Choudhary, the Speaker of the Gujarat Assembly and Tharad MLA. The opening of the gates of the Narmada Canal marked the commencement of the water supply.

The project involved laying a 70 km long pipeline from Tharad to Seepu Dam. The state government planned the pipeline project to provide water from the Narmada main canal to Seepu Dam near Mahajanpura in Tharad. Bharatbhai Chaudhary, Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department, mentioned that the pipeline has been laid for the 70 km stretch from Tharad, and pumping stations have been established in three villages: Mahajanpura, Madal, and Rasana. Water will be delivered to the dam through this network.
