Gandhinagar: The Election Commission of India announced the dates for the General Elections of the Lok Sabha, during which voting will take place in 7 phases from April 19 to June 1. The state of Gujarat will go to the polls in Phase 3 on May 7 for all 26 seats. The counting will take place on June 4 for all Lok Sabha seats.

There are 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state, which were won by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2014 and 2019 general elections. This time, the main opposition party, Congress, is fighting the polls as part of the I.N.D.I. Alliance, and in view of seat sharing, Congress will field its candidates on 24 seats, while AAP candidates will contest on two seats with Congress support, Bharuch and Bhavnagar.

With the election now just a little over a month away, the BJP has announced candidates for all 26 seats. Meanwhile, the Congress has announced candidates for 17 out of the 24 seats it is contesting in Gujarat. Additionally, the party has allocated two seats, Bharuch and Bhavnagar, to its partner, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of the INDIA bloc, with AAP announcing its candidates for both seats.
