AMC mandates pet dog registration in Ahmedabad from January 2025

Ahmedabad: In a major update for pet lovers, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has mandated the registration of pet dogs starting in 2025.
In a public notice addressed to pet owners and citizens with pet dogs in Ahmedabad, the civic body stated that, according to the guidelines of the Supreme Court, the Animal Welfare Board of India, the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Dogs Rules-2023 of the Union Government, the National Action Plan for Dog Mediated Rabies Elimination from India, 2030 (NAPRE), and the Rabies-Free Ahmedabad City initiative, the registration of pet dogs in the city must be completed within 90 days starting from January 1, 2025.
To complete the registration process, owners must fill in the required details and submit the necessary documents online on the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s website https://ahmedabadcity.gov.in and pay a registration fee of Rs. 200 per pet dog. The entire process will be conducted online. If needed, owners can contact the superintendent and veterinary doctor at the CNCD department located in the Central Store section in front of the Jamalpur Jagannath Temple.

– Aadhar card/election card of the applicant
– Tax bill of the applicant
– Light bill of the applicant
– Photograph of the applicant
– Photograph of the pet dog
– Photograph of the place where the pet dog is kept
