Jamsaheb calls for Rajput unity; Asks to ensure defeat
April 09, 2024
Jamnagar: The controversy surrounding the remarks made by Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, who is the BJP candidate for the Rajkot Lok Sabha seat, shows no signs of abating. A protest is underway across Gujarat, with the Kshatriya community demanding the cancellation of Rupala’s ticket for the Rajkot seat. Following reactions from the royal families of Bhavnagar and Kutch regarding Rupala’s statement, Jamsaheb of Jamnagar has also weighed in on the matter.
A letter released by Jamsaheb Shatrushalyasinghji of Jamnagar showcases his displeasure over Rupala’s remarks. Addressing the Rajput community, he states, “Protests should be conducted democratically in today’s democratic age, not irrationally. Rajputs must demonstrate not only courage but also unity to show that they are still a force in India. All Rajputs should unite against anyone who commits such acts, and when we cannot tolerate it anymore, we must come together and defeat him in the elections. This is what democracy’s punishment looks like, delivered collectively by the power of the people.”
Earlier on Monday, Maharani Pritidevi of Kutch condemned Rupala’s statement about the Kshatriya community through a letter. Pritidevi stated that ‘these words do not deserve forgiveness’. DeshGujarat
